An Important Note: Due to the difficulty in coordinating commercial flights and our flights in this same small space, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has notified us that this will be our last year flying on the salt. We respect this decision and understand that the FAA did not make it lightly. The Utah Rocket Club appreciates the cooperation, patience, and support that the FAA has provided to our club through the years.
LDRS (Large Dangerous Rocket Ships) is the premier annual rocketry event for the Tripoli Rocketry Association (TRA). LDRS is the venue for rocketry enthusiasts to share their special projects and for manufacturers and vendors to display and demonstrate the latest products available.
For 2021, LDRS 39 will be hosted by Utah Rocket Club (UROC) at the world-famous Bonneville Salt Flats in Wendover, Utah. This is UROC's second time hosting the event.

We would love it if you and your friends came to LDRS from July 29 through August 1, 2021 and make this the absolute best launch that it can be. The Utah Rocket Club has enjoyed a truly unique launch site for almost three decades, but all good things come to an end.
If you are unfamiliar, the HellFire launch held by the Utah Rocket Club (UROC) has been held on the Bonneville Salt Flats each year. UROC won the 2020 bid for LDRS 39 and rescheduled to 2021 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The launch takes place in a small approach corridor between two portions of the Utah Test and Training Range. In the last few years, Salt Lake International Airport's air traffic has increased tremendously, and we expect it to continue growing.

The Bonneville Salt Flats launch site provides over 40 square miles of a completely flat recovery area. When we say flat, we mean flat. So flat and smooth we’ll be flying at the same place where Speed Week occurs and new land speed records are set on a regular basis. We promise you won’t want to miss the incredible experience of launching on the salt. LDRS 39 will take place at the peak of the hot season on the Salt Flats. This allows us to have a fairly safe expectation for the flying conditions on the salt.
For our HellFire Launch regulars, you will enjoy all the great conditions you have found at past launches: the wide-open space of the salt flats; plenty of launch pads - no waiting; a 25,000' waiver and the opportunity to meet friends from across the state and across the globe. All vendors will be required to show their permits before selling at LDRS 39. IF YOU DO NOT HAVE THE PERMIT, YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO SELL AT LDRS 39!
