The Alphabet Contest

The Alphabet Contest is a challenging contest where pre-planning can win or lose the game for you. The challenge is to successfully fly the same rocket on as many different letters in the alphabet as possible. So, the same rocket on an A, B, C or a H, I, J, K?  Doesn't matter about the impulse its all about the design and forethought. Clair Mills came up with this contest last year and it's back for another year. This is a great way for folks at different Cert Levels to compete with each other.

Rules

  1. Select any rocket with active recovery* that flies on a single motor, and bring it to the contest table to be registered.
  2. Each time that rocket successfully flies** on a different letter*** of motor, bring it back to the contest table to be recorded.
  3. At 4 PM on Saturday, whoever has flown their rocket on the most different letters of motor, will be declared the winner.
  4. Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place, with the winners picking in that order from the available prizes.

The Fine Print

*Active recovery means parachute, streamer, helicopter, glider, etc. No tumble or "bounce" recovery.

** A successful flight means that the rocket has to completely leave the pad and be recovered in condition to fly again. The judge has complete discretion as to whether a flight is considered successful. No strapping a 1/2 A on the side of your Level 3 bird!

*** A "letter" includes 1/8 A, 1/4 A, 1/2 A, A, B, C... through M
