Hellfire 14 Contest Events
HellFire Contests

bsf2New challenges at HellFire 14 this year. We have a new contest director and he has come up with some great new ideas. Fred Williams has been one of our NAR Contest Directors for years and he has stepped up to the plate to make HellFire's contests sizzle in the heat.

The basic ideas for the contests this year are similar to contests in year's past but with a slight twist. Several of the contests this year are based on the new NAR High Power Competition program that is currently in beta. The contests this year include G Altitude, I Altitude, J Eggloft Altitude (yup, an eggloft!), the HellFire 14K or Bust!, and the MachBuster! The rules have been posted and it's time to get serious and build that contest winning design! Show everybody you've got the right stuff!

Apollo Anniversary Commemorative Event - update
HellFire Contests

ImageOn July 20, 1969 we heard the words, "Tranquility base here, the Eagle has landed." To commemorate this event we need to launch.

UROC wants to show our pride and support for the greatest endeavour ever taken on by humanity. To participate in this event you need to fly a U. S. Manned Space Vehicle and Booster up to and including the Apollo craft during HellFire 14.

You may use any impulse level for your rocket (1/4A to N). Sport Scale entries are fine such as oversized fins on the Redstone booster. You may attach fin units to the Atlas and Titan for stability.

HellFire 14 Update
UROC News

Frank at HellFire 10HellFire 14 is rapidly approaching. Get your rockets ready and start layering-on the sunscreen now, so you will be ready for lift-off. Most of the arrangements are in place.

You should pre-register and pre-purchase T-shirts and book your hotel rooms now (The registration system is back on-line now).

If you are unsure about what it takes to survive on the salt, Steve Anderson has posted a survival guide, so you should read it now and plan accordingly.  We will probably have some food service available during the event, but you should be self-sufficient.  Safety on the salt is always our first priority, so please re-examine your rockets and re-evaluate your choice of motor and recovery system and make adjustments now.

HellFire Featured Flight - The Twins
Launch Projects
ImageSteve Anderson's first of two projects featured at HellFire this year is actually a pair of rockets. The project consists of two NCR Phantoms which he purchased already built from Paul Shefield and Scott Danner.  Steve has named the rockets appropriately Castor and Pollux (the Gemini Twins).  The intent is to fly them in a drag race on G75's. The Phantom 4000 is one of North Coast Rocketry's most popular kits over the years. Even when Estes bought out NCR they kept the Phantom around. Over the years there have been many improvements made to the design of the kit.
