Launch Types

There's a lot more to a good launch than just pushing a button. Because of the diverse nature and interests of the members of UROC we hold several different types of launches throughout the year. So whether you are interested in high power, experimental, model, scale, UROC has a launch for you.

These launches are held several times throughout the year and are exclusively for Tripoli Level 2 and above members. These launches are held to allow special projects, experimental motors and other flights that would not be allowed at a sport launch.  Please note that you MUST be a Tripoli member with a certification of level 2 or above to participate in these launches. No Exceptions. The launch is held under the Tripoli Rocketry Association's Research Launch Safety Code.

UPDATE: Tripoli has recently published an FAQ that should answer most questions about Tripoli Research Launches.

Typically held on the third weekend of each month. These are our biggest launches. Sport launches are held under the Model Rocket, Radio Control Rocket Glider, and High Power Codes of the National Association of Rocketry. The launches usually start around 9:00am or whenever the equipment is set up. The sport launches held during the nice weather months of the year (March through September) are usually two-day events. You are welcome to come either day, both days, or camp out at the launch site. We request that everyone helps set up and/or take down the range when it's time to.
