Launch Sites

We are always on the lookout for new fields in and around Utah. Smaller fields for model rockets or large fields for high power, it doesn't matter. If you know of a field that might be a possibility for us please let us know. We'll need contact information for the landowner so that we can see if the site is usable.

sirwinstonUROC's years of experience with high power launches on the Bonneville Salt Flats has allowed the launch to mature into a premier event. Equipment is excellent, support is good, and the site cannot be compared to anywhere else on Earth... Although, technically this would probably be considered a regional launch, it has national appeal and is well-attended.

HellFire has become well known for its high-power contests. Every year people come from around the US to compete in these events. This year will not be any different, we’ll have a series of contests that will challenge even the most advanced rocketeers as well as contests for the kids just starting out.

Pony Express Test Range Print E-mail

urocpic9Pony Express Test Range (PETR) is the name of the location that the Utah Rocket Club uses for its primary launch site. The range is huge, treeless, and really a great place to fly rockets.

We are lucky enough to have a 10,000 ft. AGL waiver at this site. We maintain a lease on the area from the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and an Airspace Waiver from the Federal Aviation Administration.
