On March 24, 2012, the Utah State University (USU) Chimaera Rocket Team launched their rocket at Utah's West Desert. This flight was used to verify that their Energy Management System (EMS) was having an effect on the trajectory of the rocket. Although more analysis has to be completed on the data, many of the goals of the launch were achieved. The team will compete in Alabama at the NASA University Student Launch Initiative (USLI) against other universities such as MIT, Purdue, Georgia Tech, Vanderbilt, and Harvey Mudd. They have high expectations and hope to bring home the first place trophy for the fourth consecutive time.
