Not much activity on here over the winter so I thought I would do a build Thread for my Level 2. This is my first build thread so I will do the best I can with photos and details.

Kit Details:
Manufacturer- Loc
Model- Hyperloc-835
Kit price- $109-$130
Link to Kit

I am about half done with the build but may take a couple days to get it all in here.

Motor Mount:
The instructions give you a choice of rough sanding the motor mount tube or to remove the film cover. I removed the film cover feeling the epoxy bond would be better. Also with the film on, the Centering Rings are very tight to a point of having issues sliding them over the motor mount tube. (Still test fit the Centering Rings as mine still needed a bit of sanding to slide over with a snug fit)

I am not using the guide tubes supplied with the kit, Instead I am using 1010 Rail Buttons. These will be attached to the Top Centering Ring and the Bottom Centering Ring. To be sure I have enough for the screw to grab, I added 1/8 on top and 1/8 on bottom more Plywood to to the top Centering Ring where the Rail Button will attach. And the bottom centering ring is 1/4 is just on the top. So there is no interference with the motor retainer and it looks cleaner.

Top CR:

Bottom CR:

I sanded and test fit on the motor tube and in the Airframe for a smooth, but snug fit. Also be sure you get your guideline mark to be sure they are lined up straight for the rail buttons.

Looks like it will be nice! I thought I had my TRA L2 at hellfire but I suppose I don't. No worries, no hurries!

Paperwork not submitted? I flew once and crashed. Flew 30 min later with success so there were two flights. Not sure if Tim forgot to submit or if TRA messed it up. I really don't care, because I get to fly again. Just as soon as quit spending money on rockets and start saving money for motors!

That's a great kit. There have been a few at the launches the last few years and they always fly great. I believe Jim Yehle has one that he flies hybrids in and has been repaired more than once.

I'm glad you're using buttons - there's a lot of talk about outlawing launch lugs on high power. I'd like to talk some of our recalcitrant members into using them. If you're going to be more than 10 or 20 pounds you might want to consider the bigger ones for the 1.5" rails.

Plus at the moment having rail buttons gets you launched quicker on the those flying mid power rockets also. Waiting for the rod to open on the close pads sometimes takes a few rounds of launches. Always seems to be room out on the further pads.

Reminds me I need to post some updates on here.

Finally made some progress after a long lay off.

A made my center line, and before gluing in the motor mount used it as a guide to mark where my rail buttons will go. No guessing when I drill.
