{mosimage}Neal Baker (president) opened the meeting and welcomed our new attendee; Tim Bearden (a new member). He then introduced the other officers. There were 23 people in attendance at this meeting. Dot Hunt (treasurer) gave the financial report. Due to the large number of membership renewals recieved the club is once again solvent, with a reserve for Hellfire to cover last year’s event registrants.
The NAR report was given by Frank Hunt (NAR advisor). According to Frank, the Charter for Section 523 (UROC) has been renewed. The insurance papers were turned over to Neal. The sad news from NAR was that the lead attorney for the legal case with the ATF has passed away.
{mosimage}This coming Saturday morning (May 17, 2008) will be BIG, VERY BIG. We need as many UROC members as possible at the Aerospace O Rama.
There will be at least 2 local television stations video taping the events, print media, several radio stations, over 4,000 Scouts and their leaders and hundreds more spectators. This is a chance for UROC to shine and pick up some more members. Bring a rocket to show off.
{mosimage}Apparently, others are finally learning what we have known for years... Rockets are fun! UROC has been asked to assist with two very large scout events in the next couple of weeks. Bruce Bell has taken on the coordination and planning for these events (Thanks Bruce!) We would like to get as many UROC members in attendance at both events as possible.
The event this weekend (Camp O Ree) takes place at the Miller Sports Park and will involve assisting a large number of scouts in launching their rockets as well as a few demo launches.
{mosimage}Tim Thomas of Giant Leap Hobbies and also a UROC member, has put together a great raffle for the upcoming Pioneer launch. He has contacted Tom Rouse who will be sending over some motor hardware and Tim will be donating a 30.00 Gift Certificate for GLR products, and an Estes D-Region Tomahawk. Everyone who works a range duty shift at the Pioneer Open & launch , either day will get one ticket per shift.
At the end of the launch 3 tickets will be drawn. First ticket gets first pick of the loot, second picks next and third gets what is left. More shifts get more tickets. Whoever hauls out the Trailer gets 3 tickets, same for hauling it back. This contest is just for fun, but, as Tim says "it is a small thank you to the people who help out!" Make sure you stop by and tell Tim thanks for supporting your club.
